The aim in life should not be to reach your final resting point in a perfectly coiffured manicured state, stress-free and immaculate.... rather to reach it in a state of frantic dishellvement, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other saying "Whoo hooo! What a ride!"
.... and so, Wine O'Clock was born !!!

Wine O'Clock is by invitation only. New members must be invited by existing members.

Book for camping NOW

E-mail Print PDF

Coming up in September, Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd is the annual camping trip. This year we are going to Boreen Point, one of the council owned sites. Camping in Bushland Areas along the Shore of the Lake for Tents, Camper Trailer, Campervan, Caravan or Mobile Home. Mostly unpowered sites in native bushland, although some powered sites are available. You can visit the website http://www.sunshinecoastholidayparks.com.au/holiday_parks/boreen_point_campground/ and book online. I have already booked, it was $64 for 2 adults, 2 kids for 2 nights (unpowered site). It is right adjacent to the water, perfect for those of you with kayaks/boats etc.  Let me know if you can come so I can keep track of it! Feel free to invite your friends, it does not have to be limited to the wine o’clock group. We were thinking of doing Sunday lunch (spit roast) at the Apollonian hotel http://www.apollonianhotel.com.au/ .

See the trips page for other info.

Things to do in the holidays

Print

At a Wine O'Clock session, Jodie asked for some ideas of kids things to do in the holidays.... we had a bit of a brainstorm and came up with the following ideas:

  • Go to Kenilworth and get an icecream/cheese at the cheese shop then cross the road and play in the awesome playground
  • Have a playdate - do some painting on butcher's paper (what is THAT???)
  • Go for a bike ride/walk around Point Cartright, and have a picnic. Look for shells on the beach along the way.
  • Investigate the rock pools at the northern end of Buddina beach at low tide
  • Go fishing & take a picnic at Chambers Island, Maroochydore
  • Go to Southbank in Brisbane and go swimming in the beautiful new pools they have built
  • Go to the Brisbane Museum/Art Gallery. Lots of cool dinosaur bones and critters to look at!
  • Montville for devonshire tea
  • Kondadilla falls for a swim & bushwalk (beware, we went in November and it was freezing)
  • Visit the cupcake teahouse in Buderim (opposite the Buderim tavern in that arcade of shops). Nice and "pretty".
  • Go to a bead house and make jewellery
  • Make a treasure hunt - make a booklet up with clues, make the treasure hunt end with a toy or lolly. Draw pictures for those that can't read!
  • Go to the movies at Caloundra (it's cheaper!)
  • Do some baking.... with icing (go on, I dare you!)
  • Play with playdough

Amid the everyday demands of family life it can be easy to lose sight of your own needs. The good news is, you can rediscover your sense of self, enjoy better health and even raise happier kids with two little words: me time.
